Exclusive: The Asus Eee Media EM0501 set top box for slinging movies and more to your TV quietly debuted at CeBIT in Germany last week, but we’ve now grabbed the release date for the UK. Read on to find out when this Boxee Box battler hits Britain.
If you’ll recall, the Asus Eee Media EM0501 is a dinky little hub packed with HDMI, Wi-FI and impressive file support, as well as SD and USB slots to load up your own snaps and viddies. We’ve learned that it’s been pencilled in for a launch in August here in the UK. That date is still tentative, but so long as no Eee Keyboard like snags hit production, we should be seeing the Asus Eee Media EM0501 go on sale late this Summer.
Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3 media streamer lands in the UK
The Asus Eee Media EM0501 isn’t the first wireless media streamer from the company, it should be pointed out, but the Eee branding and low power Samsung 800 MHZ chip driving it suggest that this one could be priced much more cheaply.
Unfortunately, Asus UK couldn’t confirm a price tag for the Asus Eee Media EM0501 just yet, but we’ll let you know as and when it gets badged up: if Asus get’s the software right, we could have a winner on our hands here.
Out August | £TBC | Asus
