Steve Jobs is rightly famous for his own bravura performances at Apple keynotes like the recent iPad announcement but now his life is going to be the subject of a real stage show. The curtain is set to rise on The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs in January 2011. What can audiences expect?

Monologist Mike Daisey has taken to his blog to explain the his Steve Jobs show will not feature him actually pulling on the black polo neck but is instead a monologue about the Apple boss. That’s lucky as Daisey does not look anything like Steve Jobs.

The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs will be performed at the Berkley Rep theatre in California between January 14 and February 27. The theatre describes it as: “…the epic story of a real-life Willy Wonka whose personal obsessions profoundly affect our every day lives – and follows the trail to China where millions toil in factories to create iPhones and iPods.

The talk of China suggests that Daisey might tackle Apple’s relationship with manufacturers like Foxconn. We’re not sure whether Steve Jobs will like that Willy Wonka comparison but we have heard that he wore a rather snazzy hat to demonstrate the iPad and recently received an award from the Jim Henson Company.

Do you fancy watching The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs? And what other tech figures deserve to be celebrated on stage? Maybe a ballet about Bill Gates?
