Sony Vaio M leaks: first sub £300 Sony netbook

A Sony Vaio M netbook has yet to be given the official treatment from Sony, but that’s not stopped Tesco from sticking it up for sale – and for a price far lower than any previous Sony netbook. Read on for the pictures and details.

British supermarket giant Tesco selling the Sony Vaio M netbook is just about as close to confirmation as you can get without Sony itself ‘fessing up, and it’s an interesting proposition. The black Sony Vaio M netbook is lacking the premium finish of its predecessor the Vaio W, but it’s also packing Intel’s latest Atom N450 processor, so you should be looking at a slight speed improvement and better battery life.

Under the bonnet, the 10.1-inch Sony Vaio M netbook packs 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter edition. The big news is the price though: the Sony Vaio M is up for order at £299, which is far cheaper than any previous Vaio liliputer.

We’ve reached out to Sony for more details on the Sony Vaio M but a spokesperson declined to comment. Check out the photos of it in the meantime, and expect a full announcement for the Sony Vaio M netbook shortly.
