Red Dead Redemption was gearing up to shoot on to shop shelves next month, but we bring bad news: Rockstar has told us the launch date’s been shunted back. Read on to find out when.
In its financial quarter results announced yesterday, Red Dead Redemption publisher Take-Two announced that the free roaming Western adventure had slipped from 27 April to 21 May in the UK and Europe, and three days earlier in the US. No reason was given, though we imagine developer Rockstar still wants to put the finishing touches on Red Dead Redemption.
Red Dead Redemption: new images!
The launch of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 4 DLC on PS3 and PC on 30 March remains unaffected by the Red Dead Redemption delay, but Take-Two’s fiscal guidance for the rest of the year takes into account one of high profile titles LA Noire, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Sid Meier’s Civilization V being delayed until next year. We hope Max Payne 3 doesn’t fall victim, as we need our Bullet Time fix badly.
A three week delay on Red Dead Redemption isn’t ideal if you’ve already pre-ordered, but at least we’re not looking at a Gran Tursimo 5 length wait here. In the meantime, be sure to check out our in-depth Red Dead Redemption preview and the latest trailer.
