The Skype Nokia app has been floating around for a few months in beta form, but now it’s been polished and slapped on the Ovi Store for anyone and everyone with a Symbian phone to download and get round network call charges. Read on for the details, and the newly supported handsets.

Head on over to the Ovi Store now and you’ll find the Skype Nokia app ready to download for free. It’ll let you make Skype-to-Skype calls to anywhere on this here planet using data only so you won’t be hit by massive foreign call charges, send instant messages and texts and the Skype Nokia app can even send and share images and video files.

The full Skype Nokia app also comes with extra support, letting Symbian 5th edition touchscreen Nokia phones in on the action too, so if you’ve got a Nokia N97 or N97 mini, Nokia X6 or 5800/5530, you can now join in on the fun. Sony Ericsson support is also promised in future, so Satio and Vivaz owners should get excited too.
