Google has acquired Picnik, the online photo editor used by Flickr as its default editor. But fear not, Google says things will keep on working just fine…

Picnik, the cloud-based photo editing site, has been integrated with third-part sites like Flickr, Facebook and Myspace. But while Google has grabbed the service and will no doubt integrate it with its photo site, Picasa, it say it’ll continue to let other services use it.

It told Techcrunch: “We believe openness is always the best approach and will allow third-part sites to continue to integrate with Picnik. People should be able to pull photos from other photo sharing sites, make edits and save to whatever site they choose.”

Good news. But if you’re not sure what photo site would suit you best, don’t worry, we’ve collected up the best in our photo sharing sites round-up.
