Pentax X90 ultra zoom HD camera incoming!

The Pentax X90 ultra zoom bridge camera’s made it out into officialdom, just days after Olympus and Nikon dished out beefy, telescopic shooters of their own. Needless to say, the Pentax X90 stuffs in HD video and a kitchen sink full of features. Read on to see it up close and get all the details.

The Pentax X90 isn’t an epic upgrade over the imaging giant’s previous X70, but the extra features it throws in are well worth a punt. While the 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor stays the same, optical zoom stretches up to 26x, equivalent to 26-676mm, and adds what Pentax says is a 1cm macro mode for super close up shots.

Around the back, you’ll find a 2.7-inch electronic viewfinder on the Pentax X90, which can record HD video in 720p HD at a smooth 30 frames per second, with little in the way of wobble thanks to Pentax’s Movie Shake Reduction software. The battery life of the Pentax X90 has been given a boost too. The Pentax X90 has a 50 percent better lifespan between charges, compared to the X70.

Flick the Pentax X90 into burst shooting mode and you’ll be able to reel off 11 frames per second too, perfect for sports or action shots. The Pentax X90 is out at the end of next month, but get a sneak peek at it in our official photo gallery right here.
