The Philips GoGear Connect is the Dutch gadget giant’s first crack at an Android powered portable media player, and it’s shaping up to be an iPod touch slayer alright. It’s been trailed at Philip’s Winter launch event this week, and we’ve got all the details on it right here!
The Philips GoGear Connect Android PMP is just a prototype at the moment, but Philips says it’ll run Android 2.1 at launch, and pack Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a capacitive 320×480 3.2-inch touchscreen, a camera, microSD slot, GPS and storage options of 8/16/32/64GB. With specs like those, the Philips GoGear Connect could be the first smart PMP to really take on the iPod touch – we liked the Archos 5 Android tablet but it was a tad too big to carry around.
Philips GoGear Muse HD PMP headed to the UK!
Unfortunately, the Philips GoGear Connect won’t be arriving until around the time we’d expect a new iPod touch to appear so Apple has plenty of time to play catch up. The Philips GoGear Connect isn’t expected to get a proper launch until IFA in Berlin in September. Hurry, Philips, we want it now!
