The Nokia C6 has been floating around the web for more than a month as a tasty spyshot, but things just got a little bit more official, with the QWERTY phone being given the US wireless watchdog the FCC’s stamp of approval. Is Nokia finally readying to launch its new Cseries?

The Nokia C6 spyshot, revealing an S60 smartphone with a portrait QWERTY keyboard but a much more budget look than Nokia’s premium E72 model, looked pretty authentic to us, but if you needed more convincing, the Nokia C6 has just been given the greenlight to go on sale in the US.

Specs from the FCC are few and far between, but we do know the Nokia C6 (Classification number now Nokia RM-612 according to documents on the FCC’s database) will pack Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and support for 2100MHz 3G, which is the frequency used by UK networks, strongly hinting that this isn’t just some US exclusive. Otherwise, specs from the original include a touchscreen and a five megapixel camera.

Nokia C5 leaked: smallest smartphone yet?

Nokia’s not announced any big new phones for some time now, and showed none at all at Mobile World Congress last week, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Espoo outs the Nokia C6 soon. We’ve got fingers crossed it outs the seriously slim S60 candybar Nokia C5 too.
