When’s it out?
Sammy says the first of its 3D TVs will be hitting Europe in March. And what’s more it’s planning to unlehas 3D Blu-ray players too, just to make sure you’ve got some decent movies to tide you over while you wait for Sky 3D to get off the ground.

What models will be up for grabs first?
The Samsung LED 8 series, LED 7 series, LCD 7 series and BD C6900 will all hit shelves next month, with the Plasma 7 and LED 9 due to drop in ‘late Spring’. We caught a glimpse of the lot at CES and can safely say that which ever one you rig up in your lounge, you’ll be gawping at just how good they are.

How much will a Samsung 3D TV cost?
Ah, the sticking point. Samsung has announced plans to out its new 3D TVs, but hasn’t said how much these stunners will actually cost. The Korean giant says it will unleash packages including a TV, Blu-ray player and a 3D copy of Monsters vs Aliens on Blu-ray. But you can expect to pay a few thousand in order to be among the first to rock this next-gen piece of kit.

What web services will it play nice with?
Samsung’s Internet@TV service will come bundled with these new 3D TVs. That means here in Blighty that you’ll have instant access to LOVEFiLM, BBC iPlayer, Picasa, Cartoon Network and AudioLounge jukebox features too. And that’s before you get to Samsung Apps, which aim to bolster your TVs skills with added widgets, just like on your phone. All Samsung 3D TVs will come with Ethernet and Wi-Fi on board.

Do Samsung 3D TVs do 2D as well?
Most certainly. And Samsung’s 3D processor can also convert regular pics to 3D as well, which means you can watch EastEnders’ bungling cops get a grilling over Bradley’s death in three dimensions. That or spy Jose Mourinho go mad on the touchline during Inter’s game with Chelsea. Either way, it’ll feel like you’re there, dedicated 3D content or not.

Do I need a PVR to record my favourite shows?
A really neat trick with Samsung 3D TVs lets you record your favourite shows to a USB stick rather than a dedicated PVR. That means you can simply shove in an external hard drive, hit record and let the TV take care of the rest.

Having been one of the first to experience HD and at quiet a financial cost too. I have a 42″ LCD TV that is in perfect condition, I really can’t justify to her indoors the cost to replace it. I think I will wait for the price to come down first. Why can’t someone come up with an additional box that can convert the signal. I can’t be that hard… 3D uses 2 HDMI signal together sending effectively 2 pictures to the screen, why do we need to spend loads of dosh on something that can be done a lot cheaper.

looking forward to the led 8 series, which has better blacks and uses local dimming than the led 7 series…the 9 series seems it will cost way more than 2500.

Sadly no. Sounds like a great tv but the price will almost certainly be prohibitive.

Also, nowadays the quality of the tech that is available seems to be inversely proportional to the quality to the content made available for it. All that seems to be promised for 3D TV is just more soap and sport. Yawn!

3D games and 3D Blu-ray sounds great though, as long as I don't have to upgrade my PS3.

I think I will hang on until 3D Ready has become True 3D, if you know what I mean. They won't catch me out again
