Lenovo ThinkPad X201t: supercharged convertible tablet unveiled

The Lenovo ThinkPad X201t tablet convertible laptop may not be the first ultra portable machine we’ve seen with a twisting touchscreen that folds down on itself, but it’s certainly the best specced. Want to know how it trounces the Eee PC T91? Read on and we’ll tell you.

The 12.1in Lenovo ThinkPad X201t is a powerful enough netbook without the folding display: there’s an Intel Core i7 processor inside instead of a puny Atom chip, RAM tops out at 8GB and there’s a choice between a hard drive of up to 320GB or an 80 or 128GB solid state drive.

But the Lenovo ThinkPad X201t’s big selling point is the rotating screen, ideal for folding down on itself for simple surfing the web on the commute. It even has options for capacitive touch and outdoor viewing should you work in a desert.

Sadly, graphics are Intel only and you won’t find HDMI out on the Lenovo ThinkPad X201t for playing back video easily on your TV, but if you want a solid workhorse laptop that’s also a tablet, you won’t go wrong with it.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X201t is out in March in the US with prices starting from $1,549 (A hefty £1,000). We’re just chasing Lenovo UK for British prices and shipping dates, and expect them later today so stay tuned for an update.
