The new Samsung HMX-U20 HD pocket video recorder is representing for camcorders at PMA this week. It’s a slim line model that makes a Flip look fat, but it still packs in a proper optical zoom for swooping in without lowering image quality. Read all about it right here…

The Samsung HMX-U20 might just replace Sanyo’s latest Xacti as preferred pocket camcorder for the skinny jeans crowd. It’ll record video in full 1080p at a smooth 30fps, and grabs 10 megapixel still shots too, and you get a HDMI port built in to lash it up to a flatscreen. You’ll find a 2-inch LCD screen on the back of the Samsung HMX-U20, as well as the ability to shoot time lapse, with intervals of one, five, 10 or 30 seconds.

The Samsung HMX-U20 is out this Spring for $249.99 (£160), but if you want to save a few quid, you’ll also be able to pick up the HMX-U15, just announced alongside the Samsung HMX-U20. It ups the still resolution to 14 megapixels, but drops the optical zoom to save you $20 (£12).
We’re not sure that’s money well saved, but we’ll let you know if the prices change when UK details for the Samsung HMX-U20 and HMX-U15 are announced – stay tuned.
