Shazam and Last.fm have had iPhone apps for yonks but now the two have teamed up to form a music-identifying, track recommending super-team. Read on to find out what’s they’ve got in store…

Shazam, the perfect tool for cheating in the pub quiz’s music round, launched premium versions, Shazam Encore and (Shazam) RED [the first (Product) RED app] last year. Now they’ve got a new feature to make them even more worth snapping up.

With the latest update of both Shazam Encore and (Shazam) RED, you can now listen to Last.fm station directly from tagged tracks. Identify a cool song and you’ll be able to then listen to other tracks like it straight away.

The updated Shazam apps also allow you to create new stations based on your tagged tracks if you’ve got the free Last.fm iPhone app nestled elsewhere on your iPhone.

Finally, the Shazam and Last.fm team-up takes advantage of the iPhone’s location smarts to give you ticket and tour information about artists that you tag.

Both Shazam and (Shazam) RED are available in the iTunes App Store now for £2.99 but if you’ve already got them, you’ll get the Last.fm integration for free.

Remember, if you’re rocking a Nokia, there’s also an Ovi Shazam app.
