HTC-Smart-6

The HTC Smart debuted across the pond earlier this year, but now HTC and O2 have announced it’s coming to Europe.

Don’t mistake this for any old phone though, this is a smart handset running the very latest version of HTC Sense, as found on the HTC Legend and HTC Desire, but at a more affordable price. O2 says it’ll cost “less than half the price of a smartphone” despite being fully featured.

Inside the HTC Smart is a Qualcomm chipset and Brew OS, powering an all-new HTC Sense interface. The HTC Smart squeezes in all of the latest HTC features, including Friend Stream, letting you tap into all of your social networks at once.

The HTC Smart has a 2.8 inch touchscreen, as well as a 3 megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth, and microSD card slot. It’ll come in three colours, silvery white, red and black.

HTC says the HTC Smart will launch in April in the UK, Germany and Ireland. It’ll be exclusive to O2, and boast up to 7.5 hours talktime and a whopping 25 days standby.

The only downside to this cut-down, lightweight phone is that it’s unable to run apps in the truest sense. You won’t be downloading new software from a marketplace, but HTC Sense does include full Facebook, Twitter and Flickr integration, web browsing e-mail and messaging.

Out April | £TBC | O2, HTC, Qualcomm
