Motorola Motoroi hands-on: Milestone minus the keyboard

The Motorola Motoroi Android powerhouse slipped out last month in South Korea, but we just stumbled across it here at Moto’s Mobile World Congress stand. Unlike the low spec new Quench, it’s another monster mobile in the same vein as the Milestone, but it takes the robot looks to a new level. Naturally, we grabbed it for a quick hands-on: see the photos here!

Like the Milestone, the Motorola Motoroi packs a huge 3.7 inch screen, and the same geometric shape, but ups the polish and shoves in an eight megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording, and even HDMI out, so you can play back your flicks straight to your TV. It’s also got a Korean digital mobile TV receiver for picking up channels should you happen to be on the peninsula.

While we don’t mourn the loss of the Milestone’s bland keyboard on the Motorola Motoroi, we were disappointed to find typing on the screen much more unpleasant. The haptic feedback and tiny software keys were more than a tad troublesome. But hey, how often do you come across a phone with an HDMI port? Check out the Motorola Motoroi here in our gallery, and cross digits and limbs that Motorola sees fit to unleash it in the UK.
