HTC-Desire-1

The HTC Desire is here. It’s the phone Nexus One ogglers have been waiting for, with HTC’s much improved Sense UI inside. It might look the same, but HTC says it’s a completely “different construction” with a 3.7 inch OLED screen, Qualcomm’s zippy 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and HTC’s new optical trackpad, just like the new HTC Legend. Read on, and we’ll give you all the details.

The HTC Desire has new interface tweaks, such as Friend Stream, pulling in the latest from your Facebook, Twitter and Flickr contacts in a more intelligent way, separating out their status updates, photos and shared links, but also combining the social networks so you see updates from all of them at once.

There’s also Flash Lite 4 support in the HTC Desire, and HTC’s also built in a new pop-up menu in its browser, letting you tap a word to cut or copy it, as well as look it up in the dictionary or Wikipedia. There’s also a pop-up to translate words automatically using Google Translate. There’s a new widget for the HTC Desire’s calendar too, and the whole shebang runs Android 2.1. Take a peep in the picture gallery above. The HTC Desire will be available in “early Q2″ which is April/May, we reckon.
