The Puma Phone teaser site has only just gone live, but already the details are pouring out, with a first image in tow. As expected, this blower’s a wee bit different: it’s got a solar panel on the back and more fitness features than you can reel off without running out of breath.
We broke the news of an official teaser site for the Puma Phone last night, set up by the clothing brand to big up the handset it’s set to unveil with Sagem next week at Mobile World Congress. But now Mobile Crunch has come through with more details on the Puma Phone, as well as a first picture.
It noticed that though the Puma Phone site is heavy on the weird videos and light on details, a browse through the source code pulls up an interesting string of keywords, which we’ve verified. Among the giveaway phrases is “PUMA PHONE”, suggesting that it is in fact the official name, and a list of specs including “Solar meter, Solar Cell, Photo Sharing, GPS tracker, Bike Tracker, Run Tracker Video Chat, Pedometer, Stopwatch, Turntable, Motion Sensor, Football news”.
Puma phone teaser site live: what’s Sagem planning next?
As if by magic, a reader soon confirmed the solar panel talk with an image of the back of the Puma Phone, apparently snatched off a briefly posted YouTube video, that also shows the Puma logo in the corner, as well as a camera.
Naturally, we’re still missing a few key features here, such as the front of the phone and the software inside, but you can expect the Puma Phone to be a dedicated fitness phone you can take to the gym, or on a jog with GPS. It should also allow for video chat.
We’ll be on hand at Sagem’s MWC press conference in Barcelona next week, so stay tuned for all the juicy details then, if they don’t break out before.
