Asus are ready to launch a “killer product” in June according to the company’s chairman. Could Asus be ready to unveil its first Google Chrome OS netbook? Or even a tablet?

Asus’s chairman, Johnny Shih, says the Taiwanese netbook giant wants to emulate Apple’s success. However, Asus will follow a more open-source route split between Google OS machines using ARM chips and Windows systems with Intel inside.

Acer has ruled out creating a tablet to rival the Apple iPad but could Asus be braver? Acer was supposed to be launching a Google Chrome OS tablet. Asus could pick up the baton.

Shih has already confirmed that an Asus slate PC is waiting in already sat in the labs and Google has previously confirmed that Asus is one of the firms it is working with on Google Chrome OS netbooks.

Pull all the clues together and it seems like a safe bet to predict that Asus will unveile a Google Chrome OS device in June. What we don’t know if it will have a standard netbook form-factor or a more tantalising tablet.
