The Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX quietly slipped out between all the Freeview HD gear and Blu-ray tech Toshiba announced today, but we weren’t going to let the multitouch ultraportable get away that easily. We caught up with one for a quick fiddle, so to speak, so read on for the first photos!
On paper, the Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX is an impressive laptop without the touchscreen: four gigs of RAM, HDMI and an Intel Core i3 chip keep it handy in any situation. But the multitouch Windows 7 skills are where it’s at, and it works just as well as on an all-in-one desktop. Gliding through the virtual earth in 3D is smooth, although we did end up wishing the screen on the Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX was slightly bigger. But then what kind of ultra portable would that be eh? It’s just a shame the trackpad itself isn’t multitouch.
