Red Dead Redemption isn’t out until the end of April, but it’s already available for pre-order online. However, this time round, Rockstar is doing things a little differently. We’re used to pre-order extra kit coming with games, but this time, where you buy Red Dead Redemption affects what in-game bonus you get.
The massive Western adventure from the folks behind Grand Theft Auto is available for pre-order at four different sites right now, but choose carefully. Buy Red Dead Redemption from Game, and you can deck John Marston up in a Deadly Assassin outfit which lets you pull off the sepia, Bullet Time style Dead Eye mode more often.
Amazon buyers meanwhile will find their player equipped with golden guns, which will boost your Fame quicker when you kill someone, opening up side missions more easily, while HMV Red Dead Redemption buyers get the faster, tougher War Horse to ride. Finally, savvy Zavvi shoppers get a Red Dead Redemption game guide.
Red Dead Redemption: first look!
We doubt whether Red Dead Redemption’s pricing is reflective of the extra features, but apparently the Assassin outfit is worth least, as Amazon is selling the PS3 version for the cheapest price in town of £34.49, but it’s an interesting tactic to attract punters and appease rival shops at the same time.
Which would you buy? Are you happy to miss out and wait for the reviews of Red Dead Redemption to hit? Pipe up with your thoughts in the comment below, and check the link for all the different pre-order options.
