The Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3 is the latest HD streaming box from the Taiwanese tech giant, and this time, it’s sporting Wi-Fi. Want to know when this potential Boxee box basher hits stores? Read on.
Asus’s first O!Play media streamer came out last year, with a crippling omission: Wi-Fi. Now though, Asus is quietly slipping a future proofed version with N-standard Wi-Fi, the Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3, into UK stores.
As before, you can lash the Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3 up to your TV via HDMI, and file format is still comprehensive, including standards like AVI, MP4, MPG and even MKV. There’s still the option of ethernet too for those with the luxury of hardwired connections aplenty, but the Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3’s Wi-Fi is a crucial addition, letting you stream from a media server anywhere in your house without wires.
Asus UK is still setting a price for the Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3 with retailers, but the model has just gone on sale in Italy for €129.90 (£114), so look for a similar low price when it hits shelves by the end of the week here.
