Apple could reduce the price of the Apple iPad to ensure the device remains competitive, according to reports from analysts quoting meetings with Apple executives.
In a note released by Credit Suisse, analyst Bill Shope claims Apple is prepared to look at the iPad’s pricing if uptake doesn’t match its projections:
“While it remains to be seen how much traction the iPad gets initially, management noted that it will remain nimble (pricing could change if the company is not attracting as many customers as anticipated).”
One of the biggest surprises during Steve Jobs’s Apple iPad keynote was the pricing of the device. While rumours had suggested it would be around $1000, the lowest spec model will launch at $499 in the US.
