The Nikon Coolpix P100 bridge camera, fitted out with a 26x optical zoom and HD video skills, has been unveiled, just a day after Olympus and Fujifilm outed rival long range snappers of their own.
Although the Nikon Coolpix P100 doesn’t quite stretch to the 30x optical zoom on the Olympus SP-800UZ and Fujifilm FinePix HS10, its NIKKOR lens should still give you plenty of reach. The 10.3 megapixel Nikon Coolpix P100 can also shoot full 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second, and comes with a dedicated video capture button, just like Olympus’ new E-PL1.

The Nikon Coolpix P100 is out in March for a very reasonable £349.99, but that’s not the only shooter Nikon has dished out this morning. Along with it comes the Nikon Coolpix S4000, a 12 megapixel touchscreen compact camera with a 3-inch LCD you can tap to focus and shoot, coming in black, pink or red. A non touchscreen version with a smaller 2.7-inch screen, the Nikon Coolpix S3000, will also be out at the same time.
Lastly there’s the Nikon Coolpix L110, a cheap, £199.99 12.1 megapixel all rounder with a wide angle 15x lens, 3-inch LCD screen, HD video skills, and it’s out in February.
