The Olympus E-PL1, the mystery Micro Four Thirds camera the company’s been teasing over the last week, just leaked out in full ahead of an official announcement. We’ve got all the pictures and details on it right here, fresh off the line!
43rumors has the scoop on the Olympus E-PL1, which follows on from the impressive E-P1 and E-P2, but goes down market with a lower price tag and beginner features. Like them, the 12.3 megapixel Olympus PEN E-PL1 shoots HD video, but this time there’s a dedicated record button for quick starting, and a “Live Guide” which adds filters to images in preview mode on the 2.7-inch LCD screen.
Mystery Olympus camera: PEN goes plastic
The Olympus E-PL1 also gets a pop up flash, a first for the rebooted PEN line, and comes loaded with face detection, 19 scene modes, and HDMI out for hooking up to an HDTV.
The Olympus E-PL1 will be out in March, according to the leak, in black, gold or blue, for the US price of $599.99 – a sensational £375 – though we wouldn’t be surprised if the mysterious and arbitrary British gadget tax will add a bit on top of that, plus VAT.
43rumors says that Olympus will make the Olympus E-PL1 tomorrow at 6am London time, and with all the specs and press pictures outed already, we don’t doubt them. Take a look at them right here, along with more at a gallery that Olympus probably doesn’t want published just yet here.
