We knew the Apple iPad Wi-Fi only model was due out in the UK in late March, but the long lusted after slate has finally popped up on Apple’s UK site, with a date for 3G models, and more signs that iBooks ebook downloads won’t be available here at launch.

Apple’s US site has had the Apple iPad on the front page since launch on Wednesday evening, but the UK site has only just started showing it, and it brings with it good news and bad news. The site confirms that 3G models of the Apple iPad will be shipping in April in the UK, earlier than the June estimate Steve Jobs gave on stage for international versions, although pricing and network availability are still up in the air.

Apple iPad dated for the UK

But if you were hoping to fire up the iBooks app on your Apple iPad and start downloading lots of digital tomes, we’ve got bad news for you. Apple’s UK page for the iPad makes no mention of the iBooks ebook store. So far, Apple has only stated that the iBooks store “will be available in the US at launch”, so it looks as if those deals have yet to be hammered out outside of the States.

Still, you can bet Apple will want to roll it out globally if it turns out to be a moneyspinner. You can sign up for Apple iPad notifications on the company’s UK site now if you’re keen on getting your pre-order on ASAP.
