11 inches? Mitsubishi laughs at Sony’s biggest OLED on sale: it’s planning to show off an absolutely epic 149-inch OLED display at a tradeshow next month.
It looks like billboards are about to get even more eye popping. Mitsubishi is set to show off a gigantic 3264x1920mm OLED display at the ISE-2010 tradeshow in Amsterdam early next month. It’ll be based on the company’s giant OLED screen concept shown off in Japan late last year (pictured) and based on a grid of 10cmx10cm OLED panels melded together.
That might be cheating slightly, but it won’t matter for advertising billboards, which are viewed from further away than TV screens, and since the small squares can be edge to edge, you won’t see any black bezels ruining the effect, and they can be arranged into any shape, including curved ones, as the display software is completely scalable.

You won’t be seeing these in living rooms anytime soon, but Mitsubishi sees its OLED tech as the next big thing in advertising: those large signs littering every shopping centre are about to lose their neon tackiness and get a whole lot more eye catching in the process. We just hope we’ll still be able to keep our eyes on where we’re going.
