iWorks, Apple’s productivity suite, just got a makeover for the new Apple iPad tablet. Read on for what we know so far.
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president for marketing, took to the stage at Apple’s keynote in San Francisco, to show off the specially crafted iWorks for the Apple iPad. It’ll feature a new version of Pages, “the most beautiful word processor you’ll ever see”, as well as a new “fun and cool” Numbers and and iPad tailored Keynote.
Schiller showed the new iWorks Pages in action, revealing a new tool called Page Navigator that lets you skip through to the right page quickly and easily. Numbers in the new iWorks meanwhile lets you view multiple spreadsheets at one time.
Whether you’ll be able to type swiftly on the Apple iPad touchscreen keyboard remains to be seen, but if you’re looking to mock up some spreadsheets on the sofa, the Apple iPad will at least be able to handle it. Schiller showed it in action on stage and it was swift, with quick photo finger rotation, columns and pop up, in-window menus.
The new iWorks apps for the Apple iPad will sell for $9.99 each through the iPad App Store and compatible with Mac iWorks.
