Sharp ADK-AP8P: iPod dock with touch remote

The Sharp DK-AP8P is one of those rare iPod accessories that manages to match Apple’s music players themselves for style: this one, just arrived in UK stores, comes with a remote almost as classy as an iPod touch.

The Sharp DK-AP8P iPod dock on its own is a reasonable enough proposition, packing as it does stereo sound with a subwoofer, video out to connect to a TV, and iPhone support to pause tunes when a call comes in.

But our favourite part of the Sharp DK-AP8P is the detachable remote control with touch sensitive buttons, echoing Apple’s hatred of those pesky physical moving parts.

Also announced is a new Sharp sound bar, the HT-SB400, with 3.1 surround sound and a touch sensitive remote of its own. The Sharp DK-AP8P will hit stores this month for a can’t say fairer £100, while the HT-SB400 will hit John Lewis shops from next month for £180.
