RAC’s Traffic app for iPhone and Google Android uses Google Maps and overlays areas of congestion with start and end points. It’ll also pinpoint your location to give you regional information with text and audio summaries of traffic conditions.
Zooming into maps gives you details of incidents on minor roads as well as major A-roads and motorways. Saj Arshad from the RAC says the RAC Traffic app “is a natural companion for motorists who frequently feel thwarted by the growing problem of congestion on the UK’s roads”.
The RAC Traffic app is free to download from both the iTunes App Store and the Google Android Marketplace. It links to Trafficlink to grab real-time traffic information to keep your up-to-date on congestion and snarl-ups.
The RAC has hinted that it’s set to launch further apps and online services soon – some love for Symbian phones and Windows Mobile lovers perhaps?
