Star Trek OnlineStar Trek Online starts beaming players aboard next month, but you can already pre-order the game. And to get you to slap down early for it, there’s an extra incentive: for a limited time only, you can buy a lifetime pass for the game, which could save you a bundle.

Star Trek Online is up for pre-order on UK games sites already, but the upfront fee only includes a one month subscription to the massively multiplayer online game set in Gene Rodenberry’s universe circa 2049.

Head on over to the official Star Trek Online site however and until launch day, you can pick up a one year pass for $119.99 (£73), or lifetime access for a discounted $239.99 (£146), down from $299.99 (£183).

The lifetime Star Trek Online membership also gives you two extra character slots, and the option to play as a Starfleet captain reclaimed from the Borg, while the annual pass also gives you two extra character slots.

Those prices are eye watering sums, but considering Star Trek Online will cost you £8.99 per month to play on a rolling basis, it could end up saving you money in the long run. Will it be another World Of Warcraft time sucker?
