Apple’s next generation of iPods could include the ability to watch and record HDTV, if one of Apple’s latest patent submissions is put into practice. Will Apple’s next iPods be portable DVRs too?
The US Patent & Trademark Office published an Apple patent application yesterday which covers the iPod Nano’s radio pausing and tagging function but also how Apple could extend that function to television.
Apple’s patent suggests future iPods could include the ability to watch and record television on the move. It includes over-the-air radio and television, satellite TV, music services and Internet streaming.
The legal document leafing folk at Patently Apple spotted the filing and also point to another Apple patent published before Christmas which details a push button antenna.
With Apple TV prime for a major update and the Apple Tablet on the horizon, turning iPods into portable DVRs could pull the whole system together.
