SmartControl isn’t the most dazzling universal remote we’ve seen so far this year, but at a shade under £25, it is one of the cheapest. Set top boxes mounting up? Read on and find out how you can cram those AV controllers into one little candybar.
There’s no OLED screen and you can’t design your own icons for it, but we’re not complaining when the SmartControl lets you boss around your Blu-ray player, TV, iPod docks and even Xbox 360 for £24.99. You can command up to six gadgets at once with it, and in a smart twist, you can control related kit, like the TV and DVD player, without having to switch mode.
Pro Control Pro-24.Z: universal OLED remote
The SmartControl remote is headed to Argos and Comet stores, and with its clearly labelled icons, we could see this being a universal remote that’s actually easier for the technophobes in your house to use. Look for it on shop shelves soon.
