Motorola plans to bring multitouch to most of its new handsets with Google Android at the forefront of its future plans, according to an interview with its head honcho.
Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha told Laptop that the handset maker will push harder to get multitouch into more of its devices. He said: “I think you will see us deliver multitouch in the majority of our devices going forward.”
However, Jha did raise the spectre of issues with Apple over who own the right to use multitouch. While he did not name Apple explicitly, the implication was clear: “There’s a complex set of factors, not all of them technical”.
Apple has filed a raft of multitouch patents but the debate about who can make use of the gesture control method is complex and ongoing.
