Star Wars: The Old RepublicStar Wars: The Old Republic, EA’s mega MMO has finally been dated. Prepare to hoot like a Wookie as the developers have confirmed that the Jedi packed online multiplayer game will arrive in Spring 2011.

EA’s CEO, Jon Riccitiello, teased a “major MMO” in the games firm’s recent financial conference call and suggested it would arrive by Spring 2011. Most people thought it was Star Wars: The Old Republic. They were spot on.

Sean Dahlberg of developer Bioware hit the official Star Wars: The Old Republic message board to bring news of the game. He said though a specific date isn’t available yet, Spring 2011 is a pretty good bet.

More excitingly, Dahlberg revealed that you can sign up now to become a Star Wars: The Old Republic beta tester. If you’re dying to get your hands on the Star Wars MMO, you can sign up now at the official site.

    An MMO is a logical next step I guess, but I’m still annoyed with Bioware for neglecting single player. I loved the first two KOTORs, and I’d happily play another with Mass Effect style combat built in. But I needs me a storyline, and a point at which to put it down and stop playing.
