BBC iPlayer on FreesatBBC iPlayer slipped out quietly onto the Freesat boxes of a few lucky beta testers last month, but now Auntie’s on-demand service is stepping up a gear. If you’ve got a Humax Freesat box, you can flick it on right now, enjoying BBC iPlayer on-demand on the big screen. Read on for the how to.

If you’re got a Humax Foxsat-HDR or Foxsat-HD Freesat box squatting underneath your flatscreen, BBC iPlayer is good to go. They’re the first boxes joining the public beta, and you can find instructions on how to set them up over at a new website, bbciplayerbetatrial09.freesat.co.uk. It’s a well laid out tutorial, with simple steps and video to guide you through the process, and once you’re done, you’ll have BBC iPlayer on your TV, without the need for a laptop or games console.

Freesat: BBC iPlayer dated

If you’ve got another brand Freesat box, or a Freesat enabled telly, you’ll still be left out in the cold unfortunately, but Freesat assures us BBC iPlayer will be made available to each and everyone “over the coming months”. Stay tuned for more details on the roll-out beyond Humax Freesat boxes as soon as we chase it down.
