Polaroid is now little more than a brand name after the original company was sold for scrap and the next version went bankrupt. But in more upbeat news, the companies that now own the Polaroid name have appointed Lady Gaga as creative director. No really, Lady Gaga…
The owners of the Polaroid brand, the excitingly named PLR IP Holdings, have turned to Lady Gaga to develop new products for them and she’s at CES 2010 to tell the world what’s she’s working on. Hopefully Electricpig’s roving reporters will hunt down the creations the Haus of Gaga has been hard at work on but in the mean time we’ve got some words from the wacky woman herself.
Lady Gaga says: “I am so proud to announce my new partnership with Polaroid as the creative director and inventor of speciality projects…the Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation…” – good to see she’s kept her remit nice and manageable – “…blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era.”
Lady Gaga last leant her name to the Lady Gaga Monster Beats headphones. Hopefully her Polaroid creations will be a little more exciting. In the meantime, learn more about her with our review of Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster then head over to our interview with Polaroid’s original packaging designer for new on the Impossible Project’s quest to revive instant film.
