We’ve just hightailed it from Interead’s bookish stand here at CES, after getting some hang time with the all-new, rejigged Cool-er Compact. The slinky new model looks the part. But don’t take our word for it. Have a squizz at it now in our hands-on gallery.
As you can see, the Cool-er Compact has a spanking new design, with the track wheel moving to the centre, soft buttons down the bottom and the old-school regular buttons yanked from the side for a much sharper look.

It still has the same 6-inch screen as the original Cool-er e-reader, with Interead’s Neil Jones saying he did not see the point in rolling out a 5-inch edition which you’ll need to squint at in order to load your brain with words. “You may as well be reading on an iPhone,” he said. Take that Sony Reader Pocket!
Jones would not be drawn on price, simply saying it would be the “best value” e-reader going. That means cheap folks, just how we like it.
