Skype  is going HD with the new Skype 4.2 beta adding 1280 x 720 video at 30fps. It’s also set to unveil a new line of HD webcams and TVs from LG and Panasonic with HD Skype capabilities.

The big news for Skype is that LG and Panasonic have developed HD TVs with webcams and Skype software built-in. The TVs will include voicemail, landline, mobile calls and free Skype-to-Skype call features as well as a 720p webcam and mics that will grab sound from all the way over on the couch.

Two manufacturers will show also HD webcams for Skype at  CES 2010 in Las Vegas – faceVision and In Store. They’ll include video encoding and processing power on board to help out older computers. faceVision has two models (one with a mic, one without) and In Store will unveil the Freetalk Pro and Freetalk Pro Plus

Full details and UK pricing for the webcams and TVs haven’t emerged yet but our roving reporters at CES will be sure to grab all the details.
