Foursquare is going global. Previously, the location-based iPhone, Android and Palm mobile app was restricted to certain cities. Now it’s rolling out the ability to check-in anywhere with Foursquare.
Foursquare recently added 50 new cities including Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton and Edinburgh in the UK. It launched in Britain in London. Soon though, any UK iPhone, Android or Palm toting location-fiend will be able to use the app regardless of where they live.
The Foursquare upgrade hasn’t rolled out to everyone yet. It seems to be being added to one segment of users at at a time. Foursquare wants to break out of urban areas to allow it to compete with rivals like Gowalla.
As well as adding new cities and now opening up the areas where you can use the Foursquare app, the developers also recently added Facebook integration.
