Amazon Kindle DXWe were the first to break the news that the Amazon Kindle DX would wind up on on British shores in 2010, and sure enough, Jeff Bezos has just given it the greenlight for international shipping.

Starting January 19, Amazon will ship you an Amazon Kindle DX with a spacious 9.7-inch electronic paper display for $489 (£305), although like the Kindle International Edition before it, you’ll need to bring your own UK plug.

Amazon Kindle DX headed to the UK

Will the Kindle DX make it big here with its arcane importing process, or will gizmos like stunning enTourage eDGe e-reader make it look like the early 2009 gadget it really is? Time will tell, but in the meantime, you can pre-order your Amazon Kindle DX now.

Best check the price. They slap an import tax of $89 on top of this so the whole price is $599.

Good tip Tim! One to keep an eye on… Personally, I’ll be waiting for a proper UK launch, with a UK plug for starters.

Will there be a UK launch? It feels somewhat long overdue if there is one on the cards! I’m very tempted to purchse one but at these prices I would like to wait for a UK edition.
