Palm PrePalm Pre owners in UK (as well as Ireland, Spain and Germany) are finally going to buy apps from an online App Catalog. US owners have had an app store for two months but now Europe’s Palm lovers can join in.

Palm has announced that users in Europe will be able to buy webOS apps from March 2010. It’s good news for UK Palm Pre users but still doesn’t give them much choice.

While the iTunes App Store continues to swell with thousands of apps on its virtual shelves, the webOS App Catalog only has around 600 paid apps for sale.

In the blog post announcing the webOS Catalog’s arrival in Europe, the excellently named Chuq Von Rospach, tries to woo developers from Apple: “We offer greater freedom and choice of how to get your applications to market and unparalleled control.”

Palm’s more hands-off approach to developers may appeal to them but does it have enough apps to make webOS the one for you? Maybe the prospect of 3D gaming on your Palm Pre will entice you.
