Apple’s seeking a 3D game designer to work on projects for the iPone and iPod Touch. Could it also be a clue about the future of the magic Apple Tablet?
Apple has developed games in the past both for the iPod Classic and the iPhone as well as its long-forgotten Apple Pippin gaming machine. However, the job ad is seeking someone with some rather more hardcore skills.
Apple’s asking for someone to “design, visualise, enable and implement interface, 3D characters/environments [and] animation”. Lots of companies are already making 3D games for iPhone like Super Monkey Ball, so why would Apple need to?
Apple is already marketing the iPod Touch as a gaming platform (“the funnest iPod ever”) and it could be working on more advanced gaming features for a future version of the iPhone OS.
However, it’s also possible that Apple may need some gaming experts on board to work on games for the much rumoured Apple Tablet. If it does arrive, it’s likely to pack more graphical punch than either the iPhone or the iPod Touch and 3D games would make sense.
