Peek The Peek handheld is an unusual premise in an age of convergence gadgets and all singing, all dancing smartphones. It’s not a mobile, it doesn’t stream live video and it doesn’t even send texts. It just sends email, and nothing more, and it’s heading to Europe, complete with no roaming charges wherever you go on the continent.

Microsoft has officially responded to rumours that a journalist was told that using or mentioning Apple products at it’s events was “banned”.
The incident took place at an event held by Samsung and Microsoft Germany to promote Windows 6.5. A journalist was told off for saying his iPhone was the best phone he’d ever used.
Microsoft has now released an official statement making it clear that it’s fine with people talking about and mentioning Apple products at its events.
A Microsoft spokesperson told Ars Technica: “We’ve been unable to confirm the specific exchange, it would not reflect our overall company policy and business practices. Reporters and analysts are free to use whatever technology they wish…and always have been.”
It’s good that Microsoft has cleared the air but we do remember its big boss, Steve Ballmer, being a little less tolerant…

Apple’s set to launch a streaming video service as well as iTunes music in the cloud, according to the latest theory around the firm’s recent strategic moves. Why and how would Jobs and co create a streaming video iTunes?
The theory, put forward by Wired, is that Apple’s huge new data centre, move into video cameras with the iPhone 3GS and iPod Nano and purchase of Lala all add up to a plan to both stream music and video.
The last element of Apple’s video streaming plan was put in place this week with approval for live-video streaming iPhone apps. The feature had previously been hidden in the API but now apps from Ustream and Knocking Live Video have hit the iTunes App Store.
Add the streaming video and the rumoured Apple tablet to iPhones and iPods with video capabilities and Apple will be in a position to create real-time video sharing services. It’ll be a playground for citizen journalists, rampant narcissists and people who just want to share their videos with their family and friends.
At the launch of the latest iPod Nano in September, Steve Jobs made it clear that Apple wants a slice of the video market: “We want to get in on this.” So it’s not crazy to think that it’s recent moves point to a streaming video future.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey reignited rumours about Google buying the micro-blogging site during a session at stereotypically named Paris-based tech conference Le Web 09.
Asked if Google was planning to buy Twitter, Dorsey did not explicitly deny the claim, replying: “There have been no announcements.” Hardly, a clear statement either way.
When asked why he had not flat-out denied that Google could swallow up Twitter, Dorsey said: “Twitter is focused on building a sustainable company.”
Dorsey’s cryptic answers have led the rumour rabid Twitter community to speculate wildly about Google grabbing the site.
Rumours of a Google acquisition of Twitter first swirled round earlier this year but were later shot down by straight talking Google CEO Eric Schmidt. But with Twitter having recently done a deal to include its users’ updates in Google’s search results, the deal seems more likely.

TwitterTwitter founder (and Square head honcho) Jack Dorsey reignited rumours about Google buying the micro-blogging site during a session at stereotypically named Paris-based tech conference Le Web 09.
