The Acer Liquid, Acer’s first Android smartphone, has slipped quietly onto UK shelves, but we weren’t going to let it sneak past without us vetting it first. Want to see it up close? Read on through for our unboxing gallery!
The Acer Liquid faces a tough challenge standing out as the Android party has finally started to become crowded. Build wise, it’s not much of an improvement over Acer’s chunky Windows Mobile handsets. It’s wide, weirdly cold to the touch and is an absolute fingerprint magnet.
But that 3.5-inch screen is almost as glorious as the panel on the Motorola Milestone, and it’s got a faster Snapdragon processor under the bonnet too.
Acer Liquid: world first hands-on!
Acer’s Android skin for the Acer Liquid is well made too. It doesn’t feel cheap like Huawei’s in the T-Mobile Pulse, or all encompassing, for better or worse, as with HTC Sense on the Hero and the Tattoo. All it is is a slick menu bar for media and browsing history on the left and right homescreens, with a wheel of icons you can cycle through at blistering speeds.
Is it enough to make you content with Android 1.6 on the Acer Liquid, while the Milestone races ahead with 2.0? We’ll let you know in a full Acer Liquid review soon, but in the meantime, treat your peepers to these unboxing snaps in our gallery.
