Your Sony PSP has just become a comic viewer with the Playstation Store’s Digital Comics finally swinging open its virtual doors today. It gives you the choice of previewing and grabbing graphic novels from a big range of publishers…
Publishers with comics already available on the Sony PSP Digital Comics store include superhero stable Marvel (Spiderman, X-Men and the Fantastic Four), Disney (with Micky Mouse and Donald Duck) and IDW offering up tales from Transformers and Star Trek. Titan, iVerse and Judge Dredd’s home 2000AD have also got in on the action.
The big feature of the PSP Digital Comics viewer is Autoflow – you press one button to more from frame to frame as well as zooming in and out. The feature does the thinking for you to make sure you’re looking at the right bit of the page at the right time.
The PSP’s Digital Comics reader also allows you to play MP3s while your reading. At the moment that means you can listen to music while perusing the pages of Spiderman but in the future, it should mean DVD style commentary tracks for comics.
Sony is also offering free comics in the Digital Comics store to wet your appetite. The comics reader itself is free and can be snaffled from the Playstation Comics website. There are over 500 issues already available and Sony says there’ll be weekly updates to keep you interested.
