Left 4 Dead 2Left 4 Dead 2′s first downloadable content has been unveiled. It’s pretty sensational bringing the Survivors from the original Left 4 Dead together with the characters from its sequel.

The first Left 4 Dead 2 DLC is called The Passing and occurs after the Dead Center campaign. It’ll show the meeting of the two groups of survivors from Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.

Dough Lombardi, VP of marketing at Left 4 Dead developers Valve says: “The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign.”

Lombardi also promises that The Passing will introduce new gameplay elements to Left 4 Dead 2 and, more importantly, new weaponry. As well as the new co-op campaign and story, The Passing will add new arenas for Left 4 Dead 2′s Survival, Versus and Scavenge modes. It’ll also introduce a new co-op challenge mode.

The Passing is set in a small town in Georgia (there’s a fact for you geography fans) and is set for release in early Spring 2010. There’s no pricing yet but we’re excited to see how many survivors…um…survive.

DLC Already? Sounds to me like Valve are screwing over gamers. They left content off the disc that was ready to go, and just wanted to double dip stupid gamers…

That’s a definite danger with the trend for DLC. Although to Valve’s credit, it got LFD2 out pretty blindingly quickly.

Not long after L4D1.. Is that really a good thing? Again, screwing stupid gamers over.

Really? Double dipping we stupid gamers? Valve released L4D2 in November of last year. I read many posts stating the company should not have released the game as a new title. Many gamers, I am sure you are one of them, felt the new content should have been released as a DLC thus limiting the cost. I just don’t get get it, if an artist releases a new album in, “said” and then, within the next year releases a new track, you would not say a word! You would be like most and respect the artist because she/he released another track. OMG! Why is it when the Valve company releases a quality game to the masses and the game is very successful and the company takes the initiative to be aggressive and release a totally enhanced version of the last title to the public for the cost of a new title, why is there such a backlash?

Maybe I am going out on limb here, but WHY is it that NO ONE is complaining about Call Of Duty, MOW2?????????? PLEASE! YOU AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS take the time to play the original PC COD game! The gameplay AI is EXACTLY the same as it was in 2002. The only thing that has changed is the skins of the enemy. YET!!!!! You, as most, choose to complain about Valve and how they are greedy! Have you REALLY played L4d2 in versus mode? I have! And I will tell you, it is NOT a rip-off from the first one. The new, “versus” characters are different from the original characters. It takes time to learn how these new, “special infected” can influence the outcome of the human campaign making it to the the, “safe” room. L4d2 is a totally new game.

I have played quality PC games going back to titles which were released during the infancy of on-line gaming. I played, “Doom”, “Duke Nukem”, “Unreal” and several other titles on Pc. I admit, I enjoyed the act of playing the aforementioned games on-line and engaging in the combat against other gamers. However, during my gameplay on-line, I realized my ability to engage in combat was very dependent on my connection speed. This is what I like about Xbox-Live. Sure, there are times when my connection speed is subject to the span of all those playing in the session and I can view the speed of the connection and decide whether I wish to continue playing.
