Evatran could be a tech company that hits it big next year if it pulls off the plans it’s just announced. It’s prepping a wireless charging system, Plugless Power, for electric and hybrid cars, that lets you juice them up just by parking them nearby, and it’s planning to launch the cordless eco pumps next year! Keep reading for more on the Powermat for motors.
Evatran, which has been beavering away on its Plugless Power solution for leccy cars for some time, has just announced a collaboration with Syncroness, a design consultancy, with the goal of bringing Evatran’s gizmo to showrooms and sale points by Autumn next year. Nab one, and you’ll cut the hassle and danger of having to deal with extension cables in wet weather, and never have to worry about forgetting to charge your car the night before.
Plugless Power uses magnetic induction to charge, just like a Powermat or a Palm Touchstone. But one half of the transformer goes in your car, while the other goes in the station. Just install it in your garage or drive, and Evatran’s kit will fill’er up as soon as you get home.
It’s a great idea, but requires an impressive amount of power efficiency: there’s a reason you can’t wirelessly power a HDTV just yet, for instance. We’ve got our fingers crossed Evatran can pull it off though.
