Apple’s iTunes App Store has had a quick spruce up before Christmas with the pages for applications getting simpler and cleaner to make it easier to decide if they’re worth your pennies. So what have Apple’s App Store elves been up to?

Apple has begun rolling out a new design for App pages on the iTunes App Store. It hasn’t reached all apps yet but we’ve taken a look at some of the early changes. The first big change to the iTunes App Store pages is the removal of the old faded grey to blue background. It’s been replaced by a plain white colour scheme. The app’s logo and the purchase button have both been made far larger.

Instead of a gallery of app screenshots showing one per page, the new iTunes App Store pages show screenshots in a scrollable section in the middle of the page, giving you a much quicker peek at application’s features and functions.

Customer ratings have been given more prominence, moved nearer to the top of the screen, in a new left hand column, while customer reviews (one of the iTunes App Store’s most controversial features) are split into reviews of the current version and reviews of all versions.

Finally, at the bottom of the page, the suggestions of other apps customers have also bought from the iTunes App Store are now larger.

Let us know what you think of the iTunes App Store redesign. Do you think it makes it easier to use?
