The Skype Nokia app is finally here! We’ve been waiting patiently for a full, native Symbian app to arrive and making do with stop gap solutions, but now it’s here. It’s just hit beta, and is out now to download and slash your calltime bills with.
Included in the first public release of the Skype Nokia app is almost all the support you could want, including Skype to Skype calls, Skype Out calls, instant messaging and group chat. The Skype Nokia app works over Wi-Fi and 3G, unlike the client on a certain other, nameless platform, and while there’s still no support for Skype video calls, you’ve always got Fring to cover you there.
Fring brings Skype video called to Nokia!
Support wise, the Skype Nokia app run on a range of Symbian S60 handsets, old and new, ranging from the Nokia E71 and 5320 all the way back to the Nokia N81. It’s for S60 3rd edition Symbian phones only however, so Nokia N97 owners will have to make do with Skype Lite instead. You can see the full compatibility list here, and more devices will be factored in over time.
You can download the Nokia Skype app here, but since that beta badge has been tagged on the end, expect a few glitches here and there.
