Keystick concertina wireless keyboard concept revealed

The Keystick wireless keyboard is a novel way to solve the problem of how to carry a full size, portable QWERTY pad around. It doesn’t try to use crazy materials or shared buttons to shave space: instead, it folds up into an easy to carry bar, fan style.

The Keystick, a concept by designers Yoonsang Kim and Eunsung Park, is supposed to be a sanitary device for hotdesking, that lets you use your own keyboard wherever you work, thanks to a tiny USB wireless receiver that slips into small slot on the pad.

But we can’t help but think the Keystick wireless keyboard’s folding design could come in much more use as smartphones become more powerful. There’s just no getting around the size limitations for fast typing on a mobile, but with the rise of faster Bluetooth connections and HDMI out on portable gizmos, this could be a great solution for mobile workers who can’t face lugging a laptop with them wherever they go.

The Keystick wireless keyboard is alas, just a concept at the moment, but if you want to take a hacksaw to your Bluetooth board and beat the creators to a working version, don’t let us stop you.
